COM7: General Wars Renegade Mercenaries (VC-Delta)
General Wars Renegade Mercenaries
445 pts, 18 figs (max)
VC (inclusive) - Delta Pricing
Renegade units are Renegade Mercenaries without a General for army-building purposes. If your army only includes Renegade Mercenaries, that is your General (it is treated as its own General, wholly distinct from the original Generals).
If your army includes Classic and/or VC units, that is your general for the event (you may only include Classic/VC units from a single general). Your army may include up to 240 points of Renegade Mercenaries.

FOURmat
Bring one army. Each round of the tournament will be one of the following formats: Straight Kill 'em (twice), Heat of Battle, Dungeon Defenders, and Reverse of the Whip.
Round One will be Straight Kill'em. If we need 5 rounds to determine the winner (I project we will), we will have two rounds of Straight Kill'em.
Reverse of the Whip will be either Round 4 or Round 5
Besides that, the order of the formats will be randomly chosen out of a hat.
Descriptions of each format:
Straight Kill 'em: Good 'ole normal Heroscape. This format will be played twice.
Heat of Battle: Before the game, both players roll the D20; high roll may choose to place first or defer (meaning they place second).
Players alternate placing one card of their units on the board (a map's "start zones" are irrelevant for Heat of Battle). Squad figures must be placed next to other squad figures you placed that turn. You may not place figures on glyphs or adjacent to enemy figures.
The player who places second automatically wins initiative Round 1.
Dungeon Defenders: Bring a rock outcrop, glacier, or castle pillar with your army as your crystal. We will have castle pillars for players to borrow.
Each player will place their opponent’s crystal in their opponent’s start zone at the beginning of the game (before figures are placed). The first player to destroy their opponent's crystal or their opponent's army wins the game.
The crystal is a destructible object with the following stats and powers:
6 life 4 defense
BLINDING DEFLECTION: When the crystal is attacked by a figure that is at least 4 spaces away, it rolls 2 additional defense dice.
WEAKENING POWER AURA: Figures adjacent to the crystal roll one fewer defense die.
Reverse of the Whip: You will play your opponent's army
If a 6th round is needed (quite unlikely), the format will be randomly chosen from the current list.
This event is similar to the "Tournament of Champions" format (GenCon 2011); we chose to give it a new name because.
DAY OF TOURNEY EDIT:
Here are how the round formats occured:
1) Kill 'em
2) Heat of Battle
3) Dungeon Defenders
4) Reverse The Whip
5) Kill 'em

General Wars Alliance (VC-inclusive) (Delta Points)
Your army must follow exactly 2 Generals.
Each General must have at least 170 pts spent on it.
Jan. 18, 2025
Dungeon Defenders, Bring 2 First-Crack (Delta Points)
Dungeon Defenders: Bring a rock outcrop, glacier, or castle pillar with your army as your crystal. We will have castle pillars for players to borrow.
Bring 2: Bring 2 armies with no overlapping figures. Before the game, the two players roll the D20; the high roll chooses to be Player A or Player B.
1) Player A selects one of the 4 armies to play. If the player who won the dice-off chooses to be Player A, they MUST select one of their OPPONENT'S armies.
2) Player B then selects one of the remaining 3 armies to play.
Each player will place their opponent’s crystal in their opponent’s start zone at the beginning of the game (after armies are selected, but before figures are placed).

Multiplayer, Initiative of Battle
350 pt, 10 figures (max)
Armies must be a minimum of 200 pts
Games are free-for-all.
We will use our normal maps. We won't use Zephyr (OEAO version).
Players will spend Initiative Credits(ICs) bidding on initiative each round.
Players start each game with the following # of Initiative Credits(ICs) = 20 + (however many points light their army is.).
For example, if your army is 345 points (5 points light), you would start the game with 25 Initiative Credits (20 automatically and 5 for being 5 points light).
Armies must be a minimum of 200 pts. You are not allowed to sit units optionally.
For each round, after order markers are placed, you will secretly and simultaneously write down your bid for initiative.
You can't bid more ICs than you have
All bids must be integers (can't bid 2.5)
Each player's amount of ICs is public information
If multiple players bid the same amount (including bidding 0), those players roll the D20 to determine their order.
Depending on your place in the initiative order, you will "spend" (spend = subtract from your total) the following number of ICs:
3-Player Games (which most games will be)
1st: 100% of your bid
2rd: All the ICs you bid, up to FIVE
(ex) if you bid 20 ICs and place 2nd, you spend 5 ICs
(ex) if you bid 4 ICs and place 2nd, you subtract 4 ICs
3rd: 0% of your bid
4-Player Games (which some games may be)
1st: 100% of your bid
2rd: All the ICs you bid, up to SEVEN
(example): if you bid 20 ICs and place 2nd, you spend 7 ICs
(example): if you bid 4 ICs and place 2nd, you spend 4 ICs"
3rd: All the ICs you bid, up to THREE
(ex) if you bid 20 ICs and place 3rd, you spend 3 ICs
(ex) if you bid 2 ICs and place 3rd, you spend 2 ICs
4th: 0% of your bid
Heat of Battle Placement:
Before the game, each player rolls the D20; highest roll places 1st, 2nd highest roll places 2nd, 3rd highest roll places 3rd...
Players take turns placing one card of their units anywhere on the board. Squad figures must be placed next to other squad figures you placed that turn. You may not place figures on glyphs or adjacent to enemy figures.
Multiplayer scoring is as follows:
Track the partial card scoring damage you do to opponents' units throughout the game (always rounding down). At the end of the game, the players are ranked in order of damage done.
The tournament points are awarded as follows:
4-player table: 4, 2, 1, 0.
3-player table: 4, 2, 0.
At the end of the 3-round tournament, add up all your placing scores to get your tournament score.
In the event of a tie, the player with the greater total damage done wins (so please keep a record of how much damage you did each game).

Main Event: Top Cut Bracket
Jan. 19, 2025
Draft 8 Card, First-Crack (VC-inclusive) (Classic Points)
Players bring any 8 cards worth of units to the event. At the start of each game, they will combine their 8 cards with their opponent's 8 cards to make a 16-card draft pool.
Roll d20 dice. Highest roll decides who drafts first. Draft in a 1-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-1 pattern (first player drafts 1 army card, second player drafts 2 army cards) until both players have drafted 8 cards each.
Then, players will secretly and simultaneously build a 400 pt, 18-figure army from their 8-card draft and set up to play their match as normal.
Players bringing multiple of the same common squad will need to bring at least 2 copies of those army cards in case those units are split between both players while drafting.
Players will play an army within:
400 Points
18 Figures

Scales & Scape 3: Prime-Time Tourney: VCheese
"Cheese" in Heroscape essentially means no special rules or point changes: it's straight kill 'em.
This is a VC-inclusive format, but 100% classic armies are still SUPER viable.
VCheese Tourney: 10:30-3:30 on 4/26/25, then play in the Team Tourney later that same day!
Post-tourney edit: CONGRATS JUSTINHAZE for winning! (he was the final undefeated player)
April 26, 2025
Scales & Scape 3: (*Night* Tourney) Ro8, 2v2 Temporary Teammates
Rule of 8: You may not field more than 8 of any given figure. If your army contains more than 8 of a figure, you must remove the extra figure(s) from your army before the game.
Format specifics:
Every round you will be paired with a new teammate based on your record. 1-0s paired with 0-1s, 1-1s paired with 1-1s, 2-0s paired with 0-2s, etc. An ally in one game may be an enemy in the next game!
Turn-Order Initiative: After setting up start zones, players roll d20 to establish the Turn-Order for the entire game.
Highest overall roller goes first (the team with the highest overall roller will be called "Team A")
Highest roller on Team B goes
Lowest roller on Team A goes
Lowest roller on Team B goes
After rolling for the Turn-Order initiative, write the order down as it will be used for the entire game.
In following initiative rolls, the highest roller will start the round, and the turns will follow the pre-written Turn Order.
Tournament notes:
If there are multiple undefeated players after 4 games, all undefeated players will be deemed Champions. We will not play a 5th game (the game store is not open late enough for a 5th game in this tourney).
Any player who teamed with (any of) the Champion(s) throughout the event will also win a prize! There will be no prize for 2nd place.
Typically, team events do not count towards your record on .org. Because of the way this format is, .org will "think" you are playing 1v1 games, and thus, the results of these games will be counted on your .org record. This might be able to be changed, but this is how it stands currently.

Your armies may not share any army cards.

If the dice-off winner chooses to pick second, the other player may choose any of the four armies. The dice-off winner may then select any of the 3 remaining armies.
(If you win the dice-off and want to pick your own army, you must defer first pick to your opponent.)

COM11, AM1: Contemporary Bring-1
"Contemporary Format" means only units produced by Renegade are allowed (no old-school figures for this one)
Armies may not contain more than one of the following units: Queen Maladrix, Frostclaw Paladins, or Scavorith Lord of Ruin.
This event will be capped at 16 players. This event will be a 4-round tournament.
Reasonable proxies for Embers of War units are legal.

COM11, AM2: Reverse Draft
Rules for Reverse Draft:
Players roll the D20; high roll may choose to pick first or defer.
P1 chooses one of the two armies to play.
P2 then chooses to either let P1 play that army OR removes at least one figure from that army and says they want to play with it.
The players go back and forth, removing additional figure(s) from the chosen army each time, until one player passes and lets the other player use it.
The player who passes plays the army that was not initially chosen (and plays it at full strength).
There will be an army of Marro Stingers x3 on the TO table. If, for any game in the tournament, you would rather play the Stinger army than your opponent's army (because they tried to meme and bring something really weak, like solo Otonashi), at any point during the draft process, you may choose to play the Stinger army against the army you brought that has been drafted down.
Reasonable proxies for Embers of War units are legal.

COM11, PM1: Static Teams
Teams of 2. You choose your teammate. Teammates will not change.
Each Team gets 580 Points and 24 Figures (combined between the 2 teammates).
Each player must bring an army that is within 80 points of their teammate’s army. THE BUILDER CANNOT ENFORCE THIS, SO BE MINDFUL OF THIS RULE WHEN BUILDING & SUBMITTING ARMIES.
To determine initiative, we will use Turn-Order Initiative: After setting up start zones, players roll d20 to establish the Turn-Order for the entire game:
Highest overall roller goes first (the team with the highest overall roller will be called "Team A")
Highest roller on Team B goes
Lowest roller on Team A goes
Lowest roller on Team B goes
After rolling for the Turn-Order initiative, write the order down as it will be used for the entire game.
In following initiative rolls, the highest roller will start the round, and the turns will follow the pre-written Turn Order.
Reasonable proxies for Embers of War units are legal.

Queen City Scape: VC Delta Bonus Cards Charity
10$ Entry fee. Map setup begins at 11:30AM
Bring 3 different Bonus Cards with your army. The Google Doc file with these Bonus Cards can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1O1DbDl_ZpR85Ss5GSAQDIv3wN7shXEuFntohZS6p8ZM/edit?usp=sharing
Before the start of the game, both players must secretly and simultaneously give each other a card from their chosen bonus cards. If you and your opponent swap the same card, you must try again until each player has received a different card during the trade. A single player may not bring more than one of a specific bonus card. However, if a player receives the same bonus card they have in their hand from the swap, they may choose to use that card during the game. After trading, choose 2 out of your 3 Bonus Cards to use during that game. ** For an additional donation of a $1 or more, players may use all three bonus cards per game. Players must donate every time they wish to use all 3 bonus cards in a game.
When rolling for initiative, you may choose to use 1 Initiative Bonus Card.
At the start of each turn, you may choose to use 1 Turn Bonus Card. You may only use 1 Turn Bonus Card per turn. That Turn Bonus Card is only in effect until the end of that unit's current turn. You may not use an Own Turn Bonus Card on your opponent's turn.
At the end of the round, you may choose to use 1 End of Round Bonus Card. You may only use 1 End of Round Bonus Card at the end of each round.
When you use a Bonus Card, exhaust it: you may not use it again this round. At the end of the round (after all other end of round effects), refresh all of your Bonus Cards for use in the next round.

Doubleton TWOmat (Delta Points)
Doubleton: Max 2x copies each of a given common squad or common/uncommon hero.
TWOmat: There are two formats we will alternate between each game of the tournament (Capture the Flag and Dungeon Defenders). A coin flip will decide the format for the first game.
Capture the Flag: Before placing figures, players choose a space in their opponent's start zone to be a "Flag." Mark this location with a Glyph of Brandar, a facedown Treasure Glyph, or any other identifier agreed upon by both players.
If at any point during the game, a player ends one of their figures' turns on the opponent's Flag space and is unengaged, they automatically win the game.
Dungeon Defenders: Bring a 1-hex rock outcrop, glacier, or castle pillar with your army as your crystal. We will have castle pillars for players to borrow.
Players roll the D20; high roll may choose to be Player A or Player B.
Player A: chooses which side of the map they sit on, and places their opponents' crystal in the opponent's Start Zone.
Player B: places their opponents' crystal in the opponent's Start Zone. Both players then set up their figures in their start zones per usual.

Each player must bring an army that is within 100 points of their teammate’s army (350 pts and 250 pts are the max and min, respectively, that a player's army can be).

Main Event: SEVENmat Double Strike (Delta Points)
Your army must include at least one Unique/Uncommon Hero that starts on the battlefield
Double Strike: Before the game, to determine which format your game will be, both players roll the D20; high roll may choose to be Player A or Player B.
Player A: strikes 1 of the 7 formats, eliminating it from being played.
Player B: strikes 2 of the remaining 6 formats, eliminating them from being played.
Player A: strikes 1 of the remaining 4 formats, eliminating it from being played.
One of the remaining 3 formats is randomly chosen, and the players play that format.
Kill 'em: No special rules or point changes: it's straight kill 'em.
Fog of War: Ranged attacks, auras, and abilities that require line of sight or clear sight spaces are reduced to 3.
Chrono-Key: You may include Rygarn in your army for free (he does not count towards the figure or point limit). You may use a reasonable proxy for Rygarn. Ne-Gok-Sa is a solid option. https://www.heroscapers.com/threads/the-book-of-rygarn.50591/
Bloodlust: All unique units gain Bloodlust: For every opponent's figure this unit destroys, increase the attack value on this card by 1, up to a maximum of +3. (Does not stack with Tagawa Samurai.)
Kill the King: Before placing figures, simultaneously, you and your opponent will declare one of your own Unique/Uncommon Heroes to be your "King." You may not choose a Hero that does not start the game on the battlefield to be your King. If your King dies, you lose!
TOP CUT INFO:
After 6 rounds, all players who finish 5-1 or better advance to the 8-Player Top 8. After the 6-0 and 5-1 players, the remaining Top 8 spots will go to players who are 4-2, starting with the player who has the most wins thus far at SAScon 2026 (SOS tiebreaker) (not including the Saturday night Team Event).

Into The Future (Contemporary) (Classic Points)
We will be allowing any previewed units shown at the last Renegadecon (Including GI.Joe). Please print off cards and use reasonable proxies. If your army has a lot of different proxied units in it, do what you can to make sure they are all easily distinguishable to minimize any in-game confusion. (E.g., Put matching stickers on the army card and hero belonging to that army card.)
If you have any questions about legal units or proxies, just ask in the SAScon Discord, and one of the organizers should be able to help. Your army does not have to include any pre-release units, they are purely optional.
This is a "Contemporary Format," which means only units produced by Renegade are legal (no old-school figures for this one)

Bring 2 1st-Crack (VC-inclusive) (Classic Points)
Bring 2 armies. Your armies may not share any army cards.
Players roll the D20; high roll may choose to pick first or defer.
If the dice-off winner chooses to pick first, they must pick one of their opponent’s armies. The dice-off loser may then select any of the 3 remaining armies.
If the dice-off winner chooses to pick second, the other player may choose any of the four armies. The dice-off winner may then select any of the 3 remaining armies.
There will be an army of Marro Stingers x4 on the TO table. If, for any game in the tournament, you would rather play the Stinger army than any of the armies you have to choose from, you may choose to play the Stinger army.

Carolina Order Marker 13: Delta Reinforcements
Reinforcements!
400 Points, 20 Figs (Games 1, 2, & 3) => 580 points, 20 Figs (Games 4 & 5)
After game 3, you will add 180 points of "reinforcements" to your army.
Rounds 4 & 5 will be 580-point, 20-figure-limit games.
If you did not spend all your points on your army for games 1, 2, and 3, those points “float.” For example, if you play a 390-point army for games 1, 2, & 3, your army for games 4 & 5 will comprise those 390 points plus 190 (180+10) additional points.
You need to submit two "armies" on .org. Army #1 is what you will play in games 1, 2, and 3. For Army #2, submit ONLY YOUR REINFORCEMENTS (there will be points left over in the builder when submitting Army #2). Army #2 can only be your 180 pts (+any pts you've "rolled over"). For games 4&5, you will combine Army #2 with your Army #1.
The figure limit is 20 for both the pre- and post-reinforcement games.
